SEE YOU IN THE WOODS!
Roots - Reconnect with Nature

Want a break from the hustle and bustle of todays world and a chance to feel a sense of adventure and freedom?

Come and re-wild yourselves - and reconnect with nature.

Roots Norfolk provides opportunities for children and adults to reconnect with the natural world through play and outdoor experiences.  Our 'pop up' sessions allow time and space to develop skills and interests through hands on, person-centred experiences - building self-esteem, encouraging independence and promoting wellbeing, through 'being' outside in a natural environment.

We host nature days and living history workshops in schools, yoga for kids, whittling and carving workshops for adults, and outdoor learning and forest school; all with craft, connection, community and conservation in mind.  Keep an eye out for 'pop up' collaborations too - we've enjoyed singing circles, women's circles and outdoor fitness to name a few!

Get in touch if you'd like us to create an offering for you and your community.

"If you want to change the world, start with yourself."

ABOUT

ROOTS was established in January 2016 by me, Jess King, a teacher (still teaching) after becoming a Forest School leader in late 2015. Since then, I have qualified as a children's yoga teacher so often include nature inspired yoga and breath-work within my sessions.  I host pop up outdoor events in school grounds and on Mousehold Heath, and forest school sessions at the school I teach at.  I am passionate about engaging children in community activism and the 'love where you live' concept; children are, after all, the next generation of earth-keepers and will only care and fight for what they love and connect with.  I collaborate with talented and knowledgeable people from around Norwich and Norfolk including forest school leaders and assistants, play workers and creative experts in their field.

Our Coltishall site is at Coltishall Primary School, NR12 7HA.  This site is sheltered by Silver Birch, Ash, Oak and other native deciduous trees.

We have a pond, a woodland to explore, a fire circle, a bird hide, a wildflower meadow and a huge field to play games on.

Our Mousehold Heath site has a parking/drop off and collection point within short walking distance and nearby public toilet facilities.

Directions - Gurney Road, Norwich (Mousehold Zak's carpark - NR1 4HW).  On Mousehold, we have a beautiful spot in a glade surrounded by Silver Birch and Oak trees. There is plenty of room to explore and experience a reconnection with the outdoors.

Nature is the best playground!
